Namgyal Audio Visual Archive Mission

The archive has about 30 years worth of recordings totaling thousands of hours of teachings. We have been fortunate enough to receive funding to transfer older tape formats to the newer digital formats, and to construct a proper humidity and temperature controlled media storage room.

Our next goal is to create a backup archive to provide greater security for the teachings in Bodh Gaya, India, far away from earthquake prone Dharamsala.

The Archive is administered by the monks of Namgyal Monastery. In addition we employ a full-time staff of Tibetan exiles from the local community. Numerous Western volunteers provide much needed training and talent.

Our staff records most public teachings that His Holiness gives in India, at times traveling with cases of audio, video and computer equipment. They edit the recordings, making CD’s for sale at the teaching location, at Namgyal Monastery and for download from this site. Full quality WAV format originals are placed in the archive. At times our staff edits video recordings which are turned into DVD’s.
